Where Can I Serve?

Get Involved in Ministry in the Time of Stay-At-Home:

Shelter in Place and in Ministry!

 Mask Making Ministry:

If you have any interest in sewing masks there are some people in our church who have been working on this project.  Contact Janna (jannapolik@yahoo.com) if you have questions or would like a copy of her easy pattern.  If your household is in need of a few masks to have on hand for essential outings, please let the church office know.

Food Ministries:

-We are still collecting food to restock our own food pantry at Sierra Pines United Methodist Church for those families who want to make a one stop trip for diapers and food. There is still a bin in front of the office door for your drop off convenience.  Please call the church office before you make a contribution in the bin so we know to stop by and empty it promptly.  We want to feed people not the local wildlife!  If you have questions, contact the office or Pastor Suzanne.

-Interfaith Food Ministry our local church contact is Joan Denzler (rjdenzler@suddenlink.net).  To help with this ongoing ministry that is currently in need of volunteers for drive- thru pickup please reach out to Joan or visit their website https://www.interfaithfoodministry.org/member–participating-churches.html.  This food ministry is experiencing a growing need from the community and continues to seek funds to purchase food.

Caravans of Care:  we are reaching out for some socially distanced face to face efforts to let the people of the congregation know we care.  We are planning a drive-by/visit to some of our congregants, this will allows some socially distant face-to-face time a little fun too.  We’ll have some gifts to give out in very unique ways.   If you would like a visit or if you want to be part of the car parade visitation team, please let Chris Boykin or Marie Kimmes know.

Children’s CAIR Call: (CAIR=Connecting Across Isolated Residences)

30-40 minutes on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm for a pastoral care and activity time for children.  Continue throughout the summer via Zoom.  We will be using the stories of Moses and the Exodus (This was going to be our VBS curriculum for Sierra Pines), all are welcome.  We are also looking for “special guests” for crafts, songs, drama, or other ideas if any of our adults want to take part on occasion.
